Hookpod designs and manufactures hook-shielding devices for pelagic longline fishing that prevent seabird bycatch. The Hookpod encapsulates the point and barb of a baited hook and releases it at 20m depth via a mechanical pressure release mechanism. Two models exist: Hookpod Mini and Hookpod LED, the latter containing a built-in green LED fishing light. The devices are approved for standalone use by the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission, the New Zealand government and the Australian government, and recommended by the Agreement on the Conse
