Hinterland Dairy is a farmstead cheese operation in Donnellson, Iowa, owned by the Krogmeier family, who began milking cows in southeast Iowa in 1978. The farm sits on 400 acres of pastures, row-crop fields and hay fields, and all forages for the 140 milk cows are grown on the farm. Cheese is made weekly on the dairy farm using only farm-fresh milk from the family's own herd, hand-crafted and hand-packaged, with a farm store open to visitors.
