Aphrodite Oysters is a premium oyster farm in the tidal waters of the Lower Weskeag River in South Thomaston, Maine. Founded by Krista Tripp, a lifelong Mainer and former lobster harvester who embraced aquaculture in 2018, it is a woman-owned business with a full-time crew and restaurant partners. Oysters are raised over three to five years and known for soft, plump flesh and firm, fluted shells with a moderately salty, slightly sweet flavor. In 2023 the company completed a solar energy installation at its onshore facility.
