EMPI (Energetic Materials & Products, Inc.) is an employee-owned company founded in 2006 specializing in research, test, development and evaluation (RTD&E) of energetic and ballistic systems. It operates its own explosive test facility in Burnet County, including an 8,000 ft2 ballistics lab, hydroballistic tanks, an arena, and a 140ft deep freshwater quarry lake for underwater testing. EMPI holds a Type 10 FFL and explosive manufacturing ATFE license.
