Educational and Industrial Testing Service (EdITS) was started in a garage by the beach in 1962 with the idea to measure interests in careers, beginning with the Career Occupational Preference Survey (COPS). It later developed the Career Ability Placement Survey (CAPS) to measure abilities and the Career Orientation Placement and Evaluation Survey (COPES) to measure values, leading to the creation of the COPSystem. The company is headquartered in Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, and provides career guidance and psychological assessments.
