Dark Fission Space Systems is building DARKFORCE, a nuclear thermal rocket engine based on a radial-inflow particle bed reactor, to move mass through cislunar space at roughly twice the specific impulse of the best chemical engines. DARKFORCE development is under contract through a SpaceWERX Direct-to-Phase-II SBIR award funded by the U.S. Space Force. The company is also developing DARK SCOUT, a regulatory pathfinder flight.
