Critical Materials Recycling (CMR) was founded in 2021 and is headquartered in Boone, Iowa. CMR is a rare earth recycling technology company commercializing a patented Acid-Free Dissolution Recycling (ADR) technology from the Critical Materials Institute at the U.S. Department of Energy's Ames National Laboratory. CMR produces a rare earth oxide from sources such as hard disc drives, magnet swarf and other end-of-life magnet materials, and deploys the ADR process at commercial scale to serve partners across the electronics and magnet supply chain.
