Clippership builds autonomous wind-powered sailing vessels that carry AI compute onto the open ocean, where clean energy and cooling are plentiful. The vessels use wing-sails to harvest wind power and hydrokinetic water turbines rated up to 3 MWe to generate electricity, with weather-based routing yielding simulated capacity factors approaching 90%. Onboard IT hardware is housed in a sealed, nitrogen-purged data hall, and heat is rejected to seawater via a heat exchanger. The company was founded in 2024 and is based in South San Francisco.
