Alabama Fiber Network (AFN) is the middle-mile fiber backbone for the state of Alabama, formed by pooling dark fiber strands, rights-of-way, and rural-infrastructure experience from eight Alabama-based electric cooperatives together with state and federal investment. Its statewide network reaches all 67 Alabama counties with 6,700+ route miles, 78+ points of presence, and 400 Gbps+ transport capacity on an open-access, carrier-grade model.
