AmberWave, Inc. has invented and demonstrated a highly efficient, lightweight, and flexible solar cell and module technology called Ultra-Thin Silicon (UTSi). The UTSi-based approach is 90% less weight than traditional modules and frees silicon PV from the need for heavy and bulky protective glass and aluminum module construction. It offers high performance, crack and impact resistance, and conformability to curved surfaces.
