Reefing Rotor Sails has a patent-pending design for a rotor sail structure that raises and lowers the rotor sail on demand, reducing the risk of damage in strong winds and stormy seas. The design can be retrofitted to over 50,000 merchant vessel types and moved from ship to ship. The company is in the process of designing and building a full scale prototype.
