Emeco started in 1944 with a government commission for a chair to withstand the US Navy, resulting in the 1006 Navy Chair. The company still handcrafts furniture in Hanover, Pennsylvania, using an elaborate 77-step process that turns scrap aluminum into furniture with a lifetime warranty. Emeco was founded on the principle of beginning with what's left over and turning it into what will last, using recycled materials and sourcing and making locally.
