Ascribe Bioscience was founded in 2017 based on discoveries at the Boyce Thompson Institute at Cornell University. The company develops natural crop protection products based on small molecules called ascarosides found in the soil microbiome, which prime plants' innate defense systems. Its flagship product, Phytalix, is a natural small-molecule biofungicide that is nontoxic, biodegradable, and non-GMO, applied as foliar spray or seed treatment.
