Analogic Engineering, Inc. conducts research using an ultrasonic stress measurement technique known as Acoustic Birefringence (AB) to measure longitudinal stress in rail and calculate Rail Neutral Temperature (RNT). The work builds on acoustic birefringence instrumentation developed under prior NSF SBIR work and was supported by the Federal Railroad Administration.
