Amanda Valdez is a mid-career studio and research-based artist best known for mixed-media paintings which incorporate sewing, embroidery, fabric, oil stick, and other paint media. Born in Seattle, Washington in 1982, she lives in New York, New York, and earned an MFA from Hunter College and a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions and is held in public collections including the Heckscher Museum of Art, Mead Art Museum, Davis Museum, and the US Embassy in Guatemala City.
