ACJI IMAGINING SYSTEMS THAT WORK BETTER FOR PEOPLE OUR STORY In 2011, while working at various government agencies, ACJI’s founding partners worked together on a statewide justice initiative that looked similar to other large initiatives they had each tried to institute previously in their careers. Instead of attempting the same fruitless steps again, the colleagues turned to the research to find a new approach.They uncovered literature produced by the National Implementation Research Network (NIRN), now known as AIRN, and saw its potential. By 2017, they were firm believers in implementation science and its power to create positive change in the criminal legal field.Fueled by the experience, the team launched the Alliance for Community and Justice Innovation (ACJI) to continue the study and practice of implementation science, especially in government agencies and community-led reentry.
